If you haven’t already heard by now, Harvard’s ‘Gay’ president has resigned in shame. She still has a job pulling in $900k per year, she just doesn’t have THAT job.
Now Claudine Gay has finally buckled to the public pressure of resigning — not for holding an entirely indefensible opinion on antisemitism, but for plagiarism.
The left is losing its collective mind in defending her, while the right is ripping her to pieces.
The usual suspect race hustlers are out in force claiming she’s gone because of ‘racism’. Meanwhile CNN is butchering the English language (again) while grasping at straws for any excuse to give Gay a pass.
Bonkers explanation from CNN reporter Matt Egan on the Harvard plagiarism scandal:
"We should note that Claudine Gay has not been accused of stealing anyone's ideas in any of her writings. She has been accused of sort of more like copying other peoples writings without… pic.twitter.com/ONArO75NLE

MSNBC was no better.
It's time for another "conservatives pounce" news cycle. After this, we can refocus on the substance of Claudine Gay's disastrous presidency and the crisis of university DEI. But be gentle: the libs must first pass through the stage of grief and denial. pic.twitter.com/Gr9hSFTNKI

The supposedly ‘unbiased’ AP was a good contender for being the worst offender… both with the title and the content.
You’d think nothing in the article could top the headline, but then you see @AP’s definition of scalping. https://t.co/BaC9cJaBjs pic.twitter.com/WORZ2IqISp

Here are some critiques of Gay’s alleged ‘work product’.
The Harvard Corporation has published this ridiculous statement accusing Gay's critics of racism. They cannot bear to confront the truth: Gay was not qualified, they made a bad decision in hiring her, and their commitment to race over merit has been a disaster. pic.twitter.com/xlwmvCD73k

Let's be very clear — Claudine Gay was absolutely undeserving. Her academic record was embarrassingly thin, even without the plagiarism. Compare it to past Harvard presidents. And her public defense of Harvard amidst a major scandal was disastrous. She sucked at her job. https://t.co/wvoidf7Nl7

Harvard Crimson Editorial Board:
12/12/23: "Harvard and President Gay Must Not Yield"
12/30/23: "President Gay Plagiarized, but She Should Stay. For Now."
01/03/24: "Harvard Must Learn The Lessons of President Gay’s Troubled Tenure."
How embarrassing. pic.twitter.com/Oa7zGljwOh

Commence the beat-down on the leftist defenders…

The funniest outcome of the Claudine Gay saga is all of the academics coming out in defense of plagiarism and all of the journalists coming out against journalism. Dutiful to the regime, until the bitter end.

I never knew Academic Freedom meant stealing works from others to include a Black Professor https://t.co/pr1U1dnuas

Sorry, Henry, the "racist mob" didn't minimize antisemitism, plagiarize papers, threaten the free press, and attempt to cover it up. Claudine Gay did that.
It's not 2020 anymore. Calling everything racist doesn't work. You'll need to find a new grift. pic.twitter.com/QcHVyhp1AL

It must be so embarrassing for proponents of affirmative action that the first black president of Harvard had to resign because of abject antisemitism and habitual plagiarism.
Yet, even in her resignation speech – accusations of plagiarism aside – she is the victim.

Carol Swain is a black conservative who taught law at Vanderbilt. Her work was plagiarized by Harvard’s Claudine Gay. Swain’s work was good enough to be stolen by a Harvard professor, but Swain was not good enough to be hired by Harvard—where just 3% identify as conservative.

Her non-apology resignation was BAD.
Gay's resignation letter includes zero apologies to all of the academics she ripped off to advance her own career, but more 3 dozen references to herself:
I: 17
Me: 7
My: 11
Myself: 1She embodies everything wrong with academia today: So utterly self-absorbed by her own… https://t.co/wmflu1LJsD

Neither the resignation from Claudine Gay nor the statement from the Harvard Corporation included any apology for the morally bankrupt testimony. Neither statement included any mention of their failure to protect Jewish students on campus or a pledge to combat antisemitism.

Can’t resist adding just one more.
There is still one lingering question to this story as she laughs all the way to the bank as a newly-minted ‘martyr’ for the woke cause and gets to keep her $900K/year position as prof.
Is there any truth to the memes claiming that even her resignation was plagiarized?
Likely not, but it would be a perfect cherry on top of this sorry tale.
Harvard, meanwhile is stuck with the worst of both worlds. They have not appeased the left by protecting her, and they have not defended their integrity by kicking her to the curb. They split the difference and took both the hit to their integrity and reputation that having a serial plagiarist as a professer… AND a loss of some ‘street cred’ cache they would have had with the David Hogg-style activist class.
